Abandon Ship? No.
Even with limited communication today, I was able to assess that my wife had a long, arduous day with two kids. Call it…intuition.
Our youngest – a 1 year old – is battling through her recent immunizations, which is piggybacking on her fascination with using her limited vocabulary at extremely high decibel levels. Our other daughter – a 4 year old – has taken up the popular childhood hobby of driving parents to the brink of insanity in her spare time.
As I walked into the house this evening, I was preparing to grab my gear and head out for some Wednesday night b-ball. I walked in…and my wife walked out. She said, “I’m going to mow. If you get them down in 20 minutes, you can go play.”
I thought about running, but reality set in. I couldn’t abandon ship.
I wanted to travel like the upper class on the Titanic, but was forced below decks.
Sometimes, fatherhood means you ride in steerage. Them’s the breaks.
