Welcome to Dad Men Walking
You’re probably wondering what this is all about. I don’t blame you. Let me try to explain.
A few weeks ago, I spoke to my wife about blogging about the sandwiches I make at home. I thought it would be fun and she agreed. I went on to tell her that it would be a little awkward to post sandwich recipes to my current blog, as it was centered more around my writing. She paused to think for a moment and then uttered the words that led to your reading these words now, “You know what you should do? You should start a daddy blog.”
While it’s still not entirely clear to me how we went from sandwiches to daddy blog, I am glad we did. In the weeks that followed, I assembled a team of dads who are entertaining, knowledgeable and, most of all, love being dads. Allow me to introduce them to you:
John Perri, Jr.
Together, we are the Fab 4 of fatherhood…the A-Team of advice…the Ghostbusters of good ideas… (You get the idea.)
Seriously though, the mission of this blog is simple. It is to share experiences and ideas in the hopes of helping men out there become better dads. No one has all the answers to all the questions and problems that fatherhood presents – we certainly don’t. But what makes a great dad isn’t the answers, it is the pursuit of them that does.
Why “Dad Men Walking” you ask? As you might have guessed, the name is a spin off of ‘dead man walking’ – commonly associated with a criminal who is serving a life sentence. Well, being a dad is a life sentence…but one that we gladly accept and revel in. Some of us are even serving double and triple life dad sentences by choice (having more than one child). We also acknowledge that the most important ‘life’ served in the sentence is not our own, but the lives of our children.
We hope you enjoy the things we write and the ideas we share. We encourage you to engage in conversation with us through comments and to share our content with your friends. We hope to learn a few things from you as well.
So there you have it. The brief history of a daddy blog that required a mommy to get started.
Welcome to Dad Men Walking.
